Therapy for Life Transitions
In-Person in Phoenix & Virtually throughout Arizona
Some of the hardest seasons aren't caused by tragedy. They're caused by change, even good change. A new job, a move, a relationship ending, a child leaving home, a diagnosis, a marriage, a loss, a graduation. Transitions shake loose your sense of who you are and what your life means. The ground shifts, and you're figuring out who you are on the other side. Therapy can be a steady place to land while everything else is in motion.
An Understanding Space to Explore Faith
No judgment. No pressure to have it all figured out. Whether you're navigating anxiety, big life changes, relationship stress, faith questions, or just a general sense of something feels off — you're welcome here exactly as you are.
Space to Grieve and Adjust
Transitions involve loss — even when they're chosen. Therapy makes room for the grief, the disorientation, and the fear that often come alongside change, without rushing you to "just be grateful."Figuring Out Who You Are Now
Major transitions can disrupt your identity. Together we'll explore what still fits, what's shifting, and who you're becoming — without pressure to have all the answers right away.Building Clarity and Direction
Once the ground settles a bit, we can work on what you actually want — the values, relationships, and ways of living that feel true to who you are now.

What to Expect in Your First Session
The first session is a chance for both of us to get to know each other — and to figure out whether we might be a good fit for therapy together.
There's no script, no pressure, and no expectation that you'll walk in with everything figured out. You don't need to have the "right" words for what you're feeling, and you're not expected to share everything at once. What we cover is entirely based on your comfort level and what feels most important to you right now.
I'll ask some questions to get a sense of your experience — what's been going on, what brought you in, and what you're hoping for. Some of those questions might be easy to answer. Others might take a minute. That's okay. We go at your pace.
By the end of our first session, you'll have a clearer sense of how I work and whether it feels like the right fit. And if it does, we'll start talking about what it might look like to work together.
A few things you can count on from the very first session:
You won't be judged for what you share — or what you're not ready to share yet
Nothing you say leaves the room (with a few standard legal exceptions I'll walk you through)
You get to decide how deep we go
If you're nervous — that's normal. Most people are. You just have to show up.
FAQs
Do I need to be in crisis to start therapy?
1
No. Transitions are a completely valid reason to seek support, even if things are "objectively fine" but still feel hard.
What kinds of transitions do you work with?
2
Career changes, relocation, grief and loss, divorce or relationship endings, becoming a parent, leaving religion, retirement, health changes, identity shifts- all of it.
Is this telehealth or in-person?
3
Sessions are available in person in Phoenix, Arizona or virtually throughout the state of Arizona.
What if I'm not sure what's wrong , I just know something feels off?
4
That's a completely normal way to feel in a transition. You don't need a clear diagnosis or a defined problem. "Something feels off" is enough to start.
Will you accept insurance?
5
Philoxenia Counseling is a private-pay practice. We do not bill insurance directly, but can provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan allows it.
How long will therapy take?
6
Some people come for a defined season, getting through a hard stretch, and others use it as longer-term support. We'll figure out what makes sense together.
