Therapy for abuse survivors struggling with self-doubt, broken trust, and not being believed
In-person in Phoenix, AZ · Telehealth throughout Arizona
The harm didn't end when the abuse did.
Not being believed, being told to stay quiet, friends who chose sides, the family or faith community that closed ranks; that betrayal left wounds of their own, you're not imagining that. There's a reason it works that way. When harm comes from someone or something you trusted to keep you safe, the injury doesn't stay in the past; it reaches into how safe you feel with everyone, how much you trust your own read on reality, and sometimes how connected you feel to the faith that was supposed to hold you.
You are not weak or oversensitive. You are reacting to a betrayal by a trusted figure.
Healing this kind of layered wound isn't about "getting over" the abuse. It's about three things: naming what actually happened, including the betrayal that others may have minimized, so it stops living in the fog of self‑doubt; grieving what was lost, including trust, safety, and sometimes faith; and repairing your relationship with your own body, your own judgment, and the people and beliefs you choose to keep. I use EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and, for those who want it, spiritually integrated care to do that work at a pace your nervous system can actually tolerate.
I'm Lindsay Infranco, a trauma therapist specializing in the harm that trusted people and communities cause, sexual violence, domestic and relationship abuse, childhood abuse, and spiritual abuse, and in the second injury that so often follows: not being believed. Some of my clients have faith they want honored in the work. Some don't, and they're just as welcome. Either way, you'll find the same thing here: evidence‑based care, zero judgment, and someone who believes you.
