Couples Therapy
In-Person in Phoenix & Virtually throughout Arizona
Every relationship hits hard seasons. The problem usually isn't that you fight, it's that the same fight keeps happening and neither of you can find a way out of it. Or maybe you've stopped fighting altogether, and the distance between you feels worse than the conflict did. Couples therapy isn't about deciding who's right. It's about understanding what's actually happening between you — and building something that works for both of you.
A Space for Both of You
When You Feel More Like Roommates Than Partners
The drift in relationships is often gradual — less connection, less warmth, less feeling like the other person actually sees you. That slow erosion is just as worth addressing as a crisis. When You're Stuck in the Same Loop
Most couples have one or two recurring arguments that never really resolve. Underneath them is almost always something deeper — unmet needs, fears of disconnection, old patterns of protecting yourself. That's what we work on.When Trust Has Been Broken
Rebuilding after infidelity, betrayal, or a rupture that changed things takes time and the right support. Couples therapy can be part of that process — for some couples, one of the most important parts.

The Approach: Emotionally Focused Therapy
Couples therapy with m is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), one of the most researched and effective approaches for couples work. EFT looks beneath the surface of conflict to the emotional needs and attachment fears driving it. When those are understood and expressed, the patterns change.
You're not here to be analyzed or assigned blame. You're here to understand each other at a deeper level and to shift the dynamic between you.
What to Expect in Your First Session
The first session is a chance for both of us to get to know each other — and to figure out whether we might be a good fit for therapy together. There's no script, no pressure, and no expectation that you'll walk in with everything figured out. You don't need to have the "right" words for what you're feeling, and you're not expected to share everything at once. What we cover is entirely based on your comfort level and what feels most important to you right now. I'll ask some questions to get a sense of your experience — what's been going on, what brought you in, and what you're hoping for. Some of those questions might be easy to answer. Others might take a minute. That's okay. We go at your pace. By the end of our first session, you'll have a clearer sense of how I work and whether it feels like the right fit. And if it does, we'll start talking about what it might look like to work together.

FAQs
Do we both have to be on board with therapy?
1
It helps, but one partner being more hesitant than the other is actually very common. As long as you're both willing to show up and give it a chance, we have something to work with.
What if we're not in crisis, can we still come?
2
Yes. Couples therapy isn't only for relationships on the edge. Many couples come to build better communication, deepen connection, or navigate a specific transition together. Prevention is valid.
Is this telehealth or in-person?
3
Sessions are available in person in Phoenix, Arizona or virtually throughout the state of Arizona.
What is EFT and how is it different from other approaches?
4
Emotionally Focused Therapy focuses on the emotional bond between partners, the attachment needs underneath conflict, not just the conflict itself. Rather than teaching communication scripts, EFT helps you understand why you react the way you do and what you're actually trying to get from each other. The research on it is strong: roughly 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery.
