Therapy for Anxiety
In-Person in Phoenix & Virtually throughout Arizona
Anxiety doesn't always look like panic attacks. Sometimes it's the racing thoughts that won't quit at 2am, the knot in your chest before a hard conversation, the habit of replaying everything you said and wondering if you got it wrong. It can look like being "fine" on the outside while feeling like you're barely holding it together on the inside. Whether your anxiety is loud or quiet, it's exhausting, and it doesn't have to run your life.
A Space That's Safe to Explore Anxiety
No judgment. No pressure to have it all figured out. Whether you're navigating anxiety, big life changes, relationship stress, faith questions, or just a general sense of something feels off — you're welcome here exactly as you are.
Learn What's Actually Happening
Anxiety makes a lot more sense when you understand it. Together we'll look at what's driving yours; the patterns, the triggers, the stories your nervous system has learned to tell, so you stop feeling like something is wrong with you and start feeling like you understand yourself.Tools That Work in Real Life
Therapy shouldn't just happen in the room. You'll leave each session with practical strategies you can use when anxiety shows up at work, in relationships, or at 11pm on a Tuesday.More Than Symptom Management
We don't just want to turn down the volume on anxiety, we want to address what's underneath it. That means going deeper than coping skills and looking at the roots.

What to Expect in Your First Session
The first session is a chance for both of us to get to know each other — and to figure out whether we might be a good fit for therapy together.
There's no script, no pressure, and no expectation that you'll walk in with everything figured out. You don't need to have the "right" words for what you're feeling, and you're not expected to share everything at once. What we cover is entirely based on your comfort level and what feels most important to you right now.
I'll ask some questions to get a sense of your experience — what's been going on, what brought you in, and what you're hoping for. Some of those questions might be easy to answer. Others might take a minute. That's okay. We go at your pace.
By the end of our first session, you'll have a clearer sense of how I work and whether it feels like the right fit. And if it does, we'll start talking about what it might look like to work together.
A few things you can count on from the very first session:
You won't be judged for what you share — or what you're not ready to share yet
Nothing you say leaves the room (with a few standard legal exceptions I'll walk you through)
You get to decide how deep we go
If you're nervous — that's normal. Most people are. You just have to show up.
FAQs
What kinds of anxiety do you work with?
1
All of them. Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, panic, perfectionism, and the kind that doesn't have a clean label but still makes daily life hard.
Is this telehealth or in-person?
2
Sessions are available in person in Phoenix, Arizona or virtually throughout the state of Arizona.
Do I need a diagnosis to start therapy?
3
No. You don't need a diagnosis, a referral, or a "good enough" reason. If anxiety is affecting your life, that's enough.
What if I've tried therapy before and it didn't help?
4
That's worth talking about. Sometimes the approach wasn't the right fit. We'll figure out what has and hasn't worked and build from there.
Will you accept insurance?
5
Philoxenia Counseling is a private-pay practice. We do not bill insurance directly, but can provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan allows it.
How long does anxiety therapy take?
6
It depends on what you're working on. Some people feel significant relief in a few months; others work longer to address deeper patterns. We'll check in regularly and adjust as we go.
