EMDR Therapy for First Responders
In-Person in Phoenix & Virtually throughout Arizona
You show up for everyone else. Every shift, every call, every scene — you do what needs to be done. And then you go home and figure out how to carry it.
Over time, that weight adds up. The images that don't leave. The calls that replay at 2am. The way you've had to harden just to keep showing up. The things you can't explain to people who weren't there.
Philoxenia Counseling is offering 10 EMDR therapy sessions at $50 each — specifically for first responders.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is one of the most evidence-based treatments available for trauma and PTSD. It's not about talking through every detail of what happened. It works by helping your brain process what it's been holding — so it stops hijacking the present.
You Don't Have to Explain the Culture
First responder life has its own rules — the dark humor, the hypervigilance, the pressure to seem fine. You won't be asked to justify how you've coped, and you won't have to decode your world for someone who doesn't get it.
EMDR: Built for What You've Been Through
EMDR is proven effective for PTSD, acute stress, traumatic memories, and cumulative trauma — which is exactly what repeated critical incident exposure creates. It's structured, efficient, and doesn't require you to relive every detail.Priced for Real Life
At $50 per session for 10 sessions, this offer is designed to make it easy to start — with no insurance, no prior authorization, and no waiting list.Confidential and Independent
This is private therapy, not an EAP or department program. Nothing goes to your employer, your department, or anyone else. What happens in session stays there.
How It Works
Book a free 15-minute consultation — A quick call to make sure we're a good fit and answer your questions.
Start your first session — We'll go at your pace, starting with what feels most pressing.
Begin EMDR processing — Once we've built a foundation, we'll use EMDR to work through specific memories or patterns that are getting in your way
Please note that not everyone is a candidate for EMDR therapy.
What to Expect in Your First Session
The first session is a chance for both of us to get to know each other — and to figure out whether we might be a good fit to work together.
There's no script, no pressure, and no expectation that you'll arrive with everything figured out. I'll ask some questions about what's been going on and what brought you in. We go at your pace. Some things might be easy to say. Others might take a minute. That's okay.
By the end of the session, you'll have a clear sense of how I work — and we'll talk about whether EMDR feels like the right direction for you.
A few things you can count on from the very first session:
Nothing you share will be used against you, reported, or go beyond this room
You won't be pressured to talk about anything you're not ready for
You don't have to have the "right" words — just show up
FAQs
Who is this offer for?
1
Active or retired law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, dispatchers, 911 operators, healthcare workers, and other first responders in Arizona.
What is EMDR and how does it work?
2
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process traumatic memories that have gotten "stuck." Instead of talking through events in detail, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping) to help your nervous system reprocess what happened so it stops triggering you in the present.
Is this telehealth or in-person?
3
Both. Sessions are available in-person in Phoenix or virtually throughout Arizona — whatever works for your schedule and shift patterns.
Will this go to my department or employer?
4
No. This is private, independent therapy. Nothing is reported to your department, your EAP, or anyone else. Confidentiality applies with standard legal exceptions (which I'll walk you through).
What if I need more than 10 sessions?
5
We'll talk about next steps together. This offer gets you started — where we go from there is up to you.
Philoxenia Counseling is a private-pay practice. We do not bill insurance directly, but can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan allows it.
